YouTube introduces widgets for the iPhone home screen. YouTube is the latest app from Google to introduce widgets for the iPhone and iPad home screen. One of the widgets has a particularly handy quick action.
The Information: Apple’s MR headset will be able to scan the iris
The quick action widget is 4×2 in size and has been described as “the fastest way to search and explore YouTube”. At the top of the widget is a search bar, which, when touched, immediately opens the keyboard. The microphone icon starts a voice search.
The second widget contains buttons for quickly launching the Shorts video section, the app home page, and the subscriptions section. The icons on the widget are made in the same style as the icons on the bottom panel of the application itself.
In addition, there is a 2×2 search widget with a black or white background (depending on the system theme). It simply allows you to quickly enter text queries for searching.
Widgets for the iPhone and iPad home screen are available in YouTube version 17.40.5. After updating the application, first just launch it, and only then add the widget to the home screen.
As a reminder, iOS home screen widgets are already available in Gmail, Google Drive, Google Translate, and more.
