With iOS 16.4 the voice of phone calls will be clearer. Among the novelties of the Release Candidate – a particular version of the software update that preludes the final and stable release – of iOS 16.4, there is the Voice Isolation function also for normal phone calls.
Release Candidate of iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 to developers
This is reported by Apple in the release notes of the future iOS update, explaining that voice isolation allows you to give greater priority to the voice in calls by blocking out ambient noise as much as possible.
The function that allows you to filter background sounds is useful when we want our voice to be heard clearly in a call; it is not an absolute novelty and Apple already offers this function for FaceTime or WhatsApp calls; during a FaceTime / WhatsApp call you can open Control Center, tap Microphone, and from here select “Voice Isolation”.
When we want both our voice and the surrounding sounds to be heard in a FaceTime or standard call, we can activate the “Wide spectrum” mode.
The update for everyone to iOS 16.4 should probably arrive next week.
