Vision Pro optical insert matching process revealed. Here’s how Vision Pro optical inserts can be configured and paired.
iPhone 15 Pro the five new features (plus one) that change everything
In the visionOS beta code there are new details on how the optical inserts of the Vision Pro should be configured and paired. The process is quite complicated.
Apple Vision Pro is a tight fit, so users will need to get prescription lenses to use the device without glasses. These lenses attach magnetically, but there is also a mating process within the software.
According to Code Sleuth, the Vision Pro’s optical inserts will need to be paired and there are a few steps to do so:
- Restart Apple VisionPro with the optical inserts installed and have a code or order confirmation ready.
- Enter your passcode to enable optical ID with the newly inserted optical inserts.
- After a test to verify that the user can look at a series of points, the user will have to look at the pairing code.
- A warning may appear informing you that dirty or incorrectly installed optical inserts will affect input accuracy.
- Setup may ask you which inserts are used or to find the optical insert pairing code in the Health app.
- Setup may ask you to ensure no optical inserts are installed prior to setup.
- Users can choose to continue setup even if problems are detected.
It appears that some of these steps have to do with the initial pairing process, while others may suggest changing owners and replacing optical inserts.
In any case, Apple Vision Pro must know exactly which optical inserts are used in order to calibrate itself correctly. Just like setting up a VR headset for different users, it won’t be as simple as taking the headset off one person and putting it on another.
Recall that the Vision Pro will be available for purchase at the beginning of 2024 and will cost $3,499, initially only in the United States. Developers are currently creating apps for the product.
