Upcoming iPad Mini 7 Aims to Address ‘Jelly Scrolling’ Issue

Upcoming iPad Mini 7 Aims to Address ‘Jelly Scrolling’ Issue. The upcoming iPad mini 7 is expected to tackle previous scrolling challenges. When its predecessor, the iPad mini 6, hit the market, some users pointed out scrolling inconsistencies. A source from Weibo, with a notable track record, has hinted that the next-gen iPad mini’s screen setup will be altered to minimize this “jelly scrolling” effect.

The informant, going by “Instant Digital,” also mentioned that this updated iPad mini would be powered by an A16 Bionic chip and boast a more refined front camera.

For the uninitiated, “jelly scrolling” describes a situation where content on one section of the display appears to drift, typically due to varying refresh rates during a vertical scroll. This results in an optical irregularity where one part of the screen seems to react quicker than its counterpart, which can be quite jarring once observed.

While some may find this behavior peculiar, Apple maintains it’s standard for LCD iPad displays. This is attributed to the manner in which LCD screens refresh content, causing a slight lag between the top and bottom updates. This characteristic might be more evident on the compact screen of the iPad mini.

Historically, this concern was prominent when the iPad mini was used in portrait mode. In landscape, the issue seemed non-existent, hinting at a portrait-specific refresh challenge.

The buzz is that Apple’s solution is to modify the screen setup to alleviate the jelly scrolling effect when the device is in portrait. It remains uncertain if this alteration might impact its landscape mode.

The iPad mini 7 isn’t the only device on Apple’s launch radar this month, as per the Weibo informant. There’s chatter about Apple unveiling a revamped Apple Pencil featuring a USB-C connector in lieu of the Lightning port, and a sixth-gen iPad Air powered by an M2 chip.

Additionally, “Instant Digital” had previously provided accurate insights about notable features on previous iPhone models, cementing their reliability in the rumor mill.
