Uber and Live activities on iPhone, how much longer? iOS 16.1 was released in September with support for live activities in third-party apps. The feature allows iPhone users to stay up to date on real-time events, such as the scores of a football match or a restaurant order for delivery, right on the lock screen. Live activity also appears in the dynamic island on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The challenge of the AirPods, we tell you which ones to buy today
Back in June, Apple previewed live activity support for Uber, Starbucks, and Nike Run Club during its iOS 16 beta WWDC, but we’re still waiting for those apps to roll out that feature.
Luckily, it looks like Uber is gearing up to support live businesses. The app has been updated for a few days now and now shows a Live Activity toggle in the menu within the Settings app. The feature isn’t working yet, but Uber appears to be conducting internal testing ahead of the official launch.
Real-time activity in Uber will make it easier to track your booked rides, as you can view how long until your car arrives right from the lock screen or Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro.
At the moment there is no certain date for the launch of this novelty in the Uber app, but given that the first clues have already appeared in the app, it is likely that it will be available to everyone by the end of the year.
The live activity function is one of the most interesting new features of iOS 16, especially on the iPhone 14 Pro where it is possible to take advantage of the dynamic Island to be updated in real time. An app like Uber lends itself perfectly to this function and allows us to have various information without having to open the app.
