In a tweet, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants said that production of the iPhone 15 displays will “begin in June.” Based on previous years, this would be roughly in line with normal production for iPhones, as it would match production in 2022 and pre-COVID years.
Apple’s typical schedule for the launch of the next generation of iPhones focuses on a September launch, with availability soon after, with rare exceptions. Young goes on to say that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro panels “should have a head start in terms of volume,” which could indicate that Apple believes these models will be top sellers, at least early on.
While the iPhone display may not necessarily cause delays, analyst Jeff Pu wrote Sunday that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could still face delays. Specifically, it seems that the delay may be caused by yield problems for the 48 megapixel photo sensor, which could affect the production schedule of the two devices.
