Production of Apple’s AR / VR headset will start in March

Production of Apple’s AR / VR headset will start in March. The latest rumors about Apple’s AR / VR headset report that production will start in March 2023, and that the official announcement is expected to arrive the following month.

Apple releases second beta of iOS 16.2

In May of this year, a rumor circulated that the Mixed Reality headset would be shown to members of the Apple Board of Directors.

Taiwanese DigiTimes now reports that the device will go into production in March, in the first quarter of 2023, and officially unveiled a month later.

The first “edition” of the device promises to be in limited quantities, with approximate estimates that refer to less than one million units per year. The partner chosen exclusively by Apple for the assembly of the device is Pegatron, the Taiwanese company specializing in the production of consumer electronics for third parties.

Previous rumors have reported the AR / VR viewer as a device with a pair of 8K OLED displays, 15 different photo modules, a management chip similar to the M1 and a cost that, in the US, should be around $ 3,000.

The new indication on the production date coincides with what previously reported by the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who in the planned timetable had indicated the production between January and the second quarter of 2023. Kuo had again reported that the viewer is capable to seamlessly switch between Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).

Bloomberg’s usually well-informed Mark Gurman reported in September of this year that Apple would be working on three headsets, codenames of which are: “N301”, “N602” and “N421″ respectively, the former – named ” Apple Reality Pro ”- should be able to rival top-of-the-range devices such as Meta’s Quest Pro.

A few months ago, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, asked an editor of China Daily about the future of Augmented Reality and invited users to “stay tuned”, making it clear that there should be many to see what the company has to offer
