OpenCore installs macOS Ventura on unsupported Macs

OpenCore installs macOS Ventura on unsupported Macs. Last year a group of geeks began working on a utility that offers the possibility of installing macOS Ventura (the latest version of the Mac operating system) on various Macs no longer officially supported by Apple.

The “OpenCore Legacy Patcher” (OCLP) utility is no longer a beta and allows you to install modern operating systems, not officially supported by Apple on older machines, thanks to the system bootloader which, through a complex series of artifices, allows you to run macOS on so-called “hackintosh”, computers based on x86 architecture and x64 architecture not manufactured by Apple.

The list of Macs that can run macOS Ventura includes:

  • MacBook 12” and 13” from 2008 to 2016
  • MacBook Air 11” and 13” 2009 – 2017
  • MacBook Pro 13” and 17” 2008 – 2016
  • Macmini 2009 – 2017
  • iMac 20” and 27” 2007 – 2016
  • MacPro 2008 – 2018

Obviously there are limitations (Stage Manager, e.g. does not run), and some things may not work properly (e.g. Bluetooth pairing) but the effort of whoever developed this utility is considerable and we are still talking about unofficial machines supported by Apple for the new system; the tool in question could in any case be interesting for those who do not want to abandon certain machines and for use in areas in which it is not essential to have more modern computers.
