MacBook Air 13″ M2 con Bluetooth 5.3

MacBook Air 13″ M2 with Bluetooth 5.3. Apple has updated the specifications of the 13″ MacBook Air reporting that the Bluetooth technology of the 13″ M2 models is Bluetooth 5.3.

AirPods Pro, USB-C case coming soon and more

The Macrumors site points this out, explaining that Apple has updated the page with the technical specifications and at this time the Bluetooth 5.3 standard is indicated, the same already seen on the MacBook Air 15″.

Among the peculiarities of Bluetooth 5.3 there are improvements relating to connections that take place in even more energy efficient ways, the improvement of encryption key controls (for the exchange of information between connected devices) and the possibility of performing the classification of transmission channels (useful function with devices compatible with the Bluetooth Low Energy standard for a more efficient division of communication bands, making it possible to increase the energy efficiency of connected devices and improve data transfer).

Bluetooth 5.3 is built into products such as iPhone 14, AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch Ultra, MacBook Pro M2 Pro and Mac mini M2/M2 Pro.

In announcing Apple Watch Series and Apple Watch SE 2, Apple had generically indicated support for Bluetooth 5 but now in the technical specifications section of the web page that allows you to compare Apple Watch Series 8, SE and Ultra, the indication “Bluetooth 5.3”.

Second generation AirPods Pro and the Apple Watch Ultra are also compatible with this wireless standard. The iPad 10 and HomePod 2023 are based on Bluetooth 5.2 and 5.0 respectively.

The “magic” of Bluetooth 5.0 which becomes Bluetooth 5.3 is possible thanks to a simple update of the firmware and software components; the same “magic” cannot happen with WiFi; MacBook Air 13″ and 15″ with M2 boast Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and not Wi-Fi 6E: these are standards that use different frequencies and require hardware changes.
