The second generation AirPods Pro were released in September 2022 and have a Lightning connector on the charging case. It’s unclear whether the new version of the second-generation AirPods Pro will have any changes other than the USB-C port on the case.
In a tweet, Kuo added that Apple currently has no plans to release USB-C versions of the standard second or third generation AirPods.
Kuo explained that Apple “currently appears to have no plans for USB-C versions of AirPods 2 and 3.” Kuo’s comment likely suggests that Apple will directly release fourth-generation AirPods with a USB-C port on the charging case, which is expected to be released in 2024.
