iPhone 14: price, release and features. For the first time in their history, iPhones have surpassed 50% of the market share in the United States, according to an analysis published by a research firm. An increase that has been steady over the past four years, as Counterpoint CEO Jeff Fieldhack explains: “Operating systems are like religions without major changes. But for the past four years, streaming from Android to iOS has been steady. It is a pattern that we can see repeated in those who have had it,” he said.
iPhone 14, Apple has evaluated to remove the SIM Card slot
And now their pockets could be filled with other devices, as from the Cupertino stage everything is ready for the launch of the new iPhone 14. The most important features of the new models have already emerged. There will be four new smartphone models but none of them will be part of the Mini category, the smallest (and cheapest) series presented for the first time in 2020 with the iPhone 12 models. The Notch will disappear in favor of an oval opening and prices they will be retouched upwards: the most expensive model will in fact exceed $ 2,000.
What will the new iPhone 14 look like
As always, news of the new devices is confidential. As always, almost every detail of what will be presented on the Cupertino stage is now known. The protagonist of the evening will be the iPhone 14, the progenitor of a new family of devices. Even in this case we should not encounter a revolution, neither in terms of design, nor in terms of hardware. From an aesthetic point of view, the first renderings of the iPhone 14 follow the same characteristics of the iPhone 13: square design with rounded edges and photographic compartment protruding from the body.
The disappearance of the Notch
On an aesthetic level, the only noticeable difference should be the disappearance of the notch, the black space on the top edge of the smartphone where the front camera is located. In its place, as already seen in some Android competitors, there may be only a small black space with an elongated shape that leaves a portion of the screen near the edges of the devices. If in the Android competitors we have seen spaces of this with a round shape, here instead we should see an oval-shaped space: in addition to the camera this slot must also contain the technology necessary for facial recognition.
Models and prices
Since September 2014, Apple has accustomed us to the presentation of different models in the same generation. Back then there were only two: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus but in recent events the number of models belonging to the same family has increased. On September 14, 2021, four models were presented: on the one hand iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini, on the other iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Now Apple is changing its strategy. In the new generation of iPhone should skip the Mini model. In all, there will be four models: two basic and two Pro, two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch.
As for the data on the hardware instead, all iPhone models should have 6 Gb of Ram, in the Pro series the models of this component will change. The iPhones 14 will mount the new A16 processor, following the current A15. The internal memory instead can be from 128 Gb to a Terabyte. The price has already been leaked: the cheapest model will be around 967 dollars, the most expensive one should instead exceed 2 thousand dollars.
Always on Display
Android users are familiar with this technology. In fact, for several years on the Google operating system it is possible to select the Always On Display option, a feature that allows you to have the smartphone always on with a small battery usage. The goal of the Always On Display is to be able to preview which notifications have arrived on the device to decide whether to unlock the phone. According to various rumors, on September 7 this possibility should also arrive on the two iPhone Pro models.
