iOS 17.2 to Introduce Convenient AirDrop Ticket Sharing Feature. In the pipeline is iOS 17.2, an upcoming iOS update currently in the hands of developers and beta testers. This new iteration of iOS brings forth an exciting addition to AirDrop: the capability to share boarding passes and various other tickets directly between two iPhones.
iPhone 16 Set to Revolutionize Siri with Super Microphones and AI Enhancements
As it has traditionally done, AirDrop facilitates the sharing of photos and videos among nearby iPhone users. With iOS 17, we witnessed the introduction of NameDrop, a feature that streamlines the sharing of contact information with an adjacent iPhone or Apple Watch. Now, with iOS 17.2, AirDrop is extending its utility by enabling the sharing of boarding passes and movie tickets, aligning it with the convenience offered by NameDrop.
The process is simple. Users can open the Wallet app, select the desired pass or ticket, and swiftly share it with nearby iPhone users.
iOS 17.2 introduces several other noteworthy features. iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users will now have the ability to record spatial videos, enhancing their creative possibilities. Additionally, the Journal app, known as “Diario” in Italian, is designed to promote reflection and gratitude by encouraging users to chronicle their experiences. Powered by the Journaling Suggestions API, this app provides personalized suggestions for moments to write about, leveraging on-device machine learning to intelligently select relevant topics based on the user’s recent activities, which can include photos, people, places, workouts, and more.
The Weather widgets in iOS 17.2 also receive enhancements. Users can now choose between various weather data options, including rainfall for the next hour, daily forecasts, sunrise and sunset times, as well as current conditions such as air quality and wind speed.
Further enhancements included in iOS 17.2 involve PDFs, with advanced autofill functionality capable of identifying fields in PDFs and other forms, simplifying the completion of information like contact names and addresses. Qi2 charger support is extended to all iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models, offering greater convenience for wireless charging. There are also additional features related to health and well-being.
The “Release candidates” for updates to macOS 14.2 and iOS 17.2 have already been distributed to developers. The final versions of iOS 17.2, iPadOS 17.2, watchOS 10.2, and more are expected to be released next week.
