iOS 16, battery drain and slow Spotlight complaints. Comparison of iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 / 14 Plus: what has changed besides the size?
In the past few days, iPhone 14 Pro users have shared specific bugs related to Apple’s latest high-end iPhones, including camera issues, iMessage and FaceTime activation issues, and more. There are other problems, however, which impact the wider iOS 16 user group, and which also affect users with older terminals.
Abnormal battery discharge
After each major iOS update, such as iOS 16, it is common for iPhone to run out of battery life faster. This is because, at least in the first hours of life after installation, the system starts indexing activities in the background.
Conversely, other users are reporting an improvement in battery life compared to iOS 15, so the experience is mixed at the moment. Apple recently recognized that enabling tactile feedback for the virtual keyboard in iOS 16 could adversely affect battery life, so users who experience battery drain too quickly might try to disable this feature.
Slow Spotlight Search
A more prominent issue iOS 16 users are reporting is slow spotlight search. Users are reporting that Spotlight sometimes takes up to 10 seconds to load results on iOS 16 and sometimes they don’t load at all. Users across multiple Reddit and MacRumors forum threads are sharing their experiences.
However, Apple has confirmed that it is aware of some of the problems users are experiencing, including camera flickering on the latest iPhone 14 Pro, and has promised an iOS 16 update next week.
The update, most likely iOS 16.0.2, will include a fix for camera issues, in addition to the three-finger bug. The update may also fix other problems encountered by users, such as battery drain and slow Spotlight search. On these last two points, however, there are no official statements from Apple, at least not at the moment.
