The reason for the short-term launch of the update would be in several problems, some annoying, that emerged after the release of iOS 16.4 at the end of March. In particular, some iPhone users have complained about problems with the Weather app, a not exactly pleasant situation given that the weather was one of the focal elements of the iPadOS 16 news. This operating system for tablets, in fact, was the first to bring the app on the big screen.
Other users have reported having to re-enter their Wi-Fi passwords. Apple’s System Status Pages acknowledged issues with the Weather app and WeatherKit.
iOS 16.4.1 would be an emergency update prepared very quickly in anticipation of iOS 16.5 and aimed at fixing the most pressing problems.
Recall that Apple already released the first beta of iOS 16.5 last week with some minor changes, including the addition of a Sports tab in the Apple News app and the ability to start a screen recording with Siri. iOS 16.5 will probably be released to the public as early as May but it would not be the case to leave unhappy users in circulation until then.
