iPhone 5 but not only, here is the list of Apple smartphones that will no longer support WhatsApp.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, especially in Europe. Like all apps, WhatsApp regularly ends support for older and discontinued devices. The latest to lose support for this app are the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C, which will no longer be supported after December 31st.
In total, WhatsApp will stop working on a total of 49 models starting January 1, as reported by GizChina. In any case, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C are two terminals already on Apple’s “vintage and obsolete” list, for which support in case of problems is not even guaranteed.
The WhatsApp FAQ section explains this decision: “To keep up with the latest advances in technology, we regularly discontinue support for older operating systems to direct our resources to support newer ones. If we stop supporting your operating system, you will be notified and asked to update your device to continue using WhatsApp.”
Starting January 1, WhatsApp will only officially support iOS 12 and above. iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C both work with iOS 10, as iOS 11 which never arrived on these phones because they are two 32-bit models.
