Apple will increase the cost of battery replacements for out-of-warranty iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. Beginning in March 2023, Apple will increase the cost of battery replacement for all iPhone models prior to the 2022 iPhone 14 and Pro generation, only for out-of-warranty repairs. Updated: again from March 1, 2023, the cost of replacing the battery of iPads and MacBooks will also increase, as explained in the update at the end of the article.
iPhone 14 Pro, improved availability and waiting times
In the announcement published on Reddit, the Cupertino multinational declares that the price of the battery replacement of iPhones out of warranty, therefore without AppleCare or AppleCare + coverage, will increase by 20 dollars in the USA.
Apple currently charges an average of $69 for out-of-warranty battery replacements for most iPhone models in the U.S. With the increase, the average price will rise to $89. But Apple specifies that the price increase will also be applied in other countries. Currently in Italy the iPhone battery replacement out of warranty costs 75 euros on average for most models.
Update: Increase the cost of replacing out-of-warranty iPad and MacBook batteries
While the announcement on Reddit only indicates the increase in the cost of replacing an out-of-warranty iPhone battery, the calculator on Apple’s website that estimates the price of the intervention for iPads and even Macbooks anticipates a price increase again from March 1, 2023. Starting from this same date, Apple will apply a 36 euro increase to replace the out-of-warranty MacBook Air battery, while for MacBook and MacBook Pro the price increases by a good 60 euros.
For the Apple tablet, starting March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by €40 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro (5th generation and earlier models), 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and earlier models), 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad mini (6th generation and earlier models), and iPad Air (5th generation and earlier models).
