Apple tested iPhone 15 with Lightning port. Don’t worry, the iPhone 15 will still have a USB-C port. Early in the iPhone 15 development process, Apple created a version that included a Lightning port.

A leak, claimed that Apple tested an iPhone 15 with a Lightning port, then quickly scrapped the idea in favor of the USB-C version.
iPhone 15 models featuring USB-C instead of Lightning were in testing as early as January 2022, and all projects after March 2022 have focused on the new port.
Apple’s transition to USB-C on the iPhone is linked to the new European standards that impose this type of port on all smartphones, so the entire iPhone 15 range will say goodbye to the Lightning port.
Incidentally, USB-C ports have been included in the Mac lineup since 2015 and the iPad lineup since 2018. Every iPad that Apple sells now has a USB-C port, making it the only iOS devices that still use Lightning it’s the iPhones.
In fact, the USB-C port on all Apple devices will make charging easier because iPhones, iPads and Macs can all share the same cable and power adapter.
