Apple releases iOS 16.1.2 with enhancements to incident detection feature

Apple releases iOS 16.1.2 with enhancements to incident detection feature. Apple has released iOS 16.1.2 for all users. The update improves the reliability of the incident detection feature for iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro users.

iPhone 15 will take advantage of a new cutting-edge photo sensor

According to Apple, the iOS 16.1.2 update also improves compatibility with wireless carriers, as well as introducing important security patches. The build number for iOS 16.1.2 is 20B110.

With the accident detection feature, iPhone 14 can automatically call an emergency service when the phone detects a car accident. However, a month ago, a small number of users complained that the feature had been turned on by mistake while on a roller coaster. Apple explained that the feature uses G-force sensors combined with other data to detect a crash, but the company acknowledged that a roller coaster ride could fool the system.

It’s not clear exactly how Apple is improving crash detection with iOS 16.1.2, but since the feature relies on algorithms to detect potential car crashes, Apple likely has tweaked the system to make those algorithms more accurate.
