New Mac Pro and Mac Studio, here’s the latest news
According to forecasts from the research firm cited above, which has seen the OLEDInfo site, global shipments of OLEDs will rapidly increase from 9.7 million units in 2020 to over 70 million units by 2028. Most of that growth will be driven by laptops, but tablets with OLED displays are also expected to grow vigorously.
The brand that more than any other is expected to contribute to an increase in the diffusion of OLEDs is Apple with the use of this type of screen on an ever-increasing number of devices. According to Omdia, Apple will begin to take advantage of OLEDs first on iPad Pros next year and, subsequently, in 2026, on MacBook Pros. From 2026 onwards, the Cupertino company intends to gradually abandon mini-LEDs on mobile devices.
For 2027 forecasts refer to Apple’s intention to use QD-OLED or WOLED panels for 32″ and 42″ displays but also for future iMacs and monitors. Apple currently offers the 27″ Studio Display (which we have been testing for some time and which we will tell you in detail shortly) and the 32″ Pro Display XDR (Retina 6K LCD IPS display).
