Apple extends Self Service Repair to other devices. Apple has expanded its self-service repair program to include Mac desktops with Apple Silicon.
Apple fixes Achilles flaw that bypassed macOS protections
As discovered by Six Colors, parts, tools and official repair manuals are now available for the iMac, Mac Mini and Mac Studio with the M1 chip, as well as the Studio Display, allowing customers to complete DIY repairs.
Currently, the availability of parts for Mac desktops and the Display Studio is limited to the United States, although the program is also available in other countries such as Italy. Repair manuals for these models are available on the Apple website.
The program is recommended only for users familiar with the intricacies of repairing electronic devices, who will be able to carry out their repairs using the same manuals, parts and tools available at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers.
Every Genuine Apple part is designed specifically for each product and undergoes extensive testing to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety and reliability. The parts are the same ones made available to authorized service centers in the Apple network, and the selling price is also the same.
Customers can return replaced parts to Apple for refurbishment and recycling and, in many cases, receive a return credit.
