27″ iMac
Following the release of Mac Studio and Studio Display in March, Apple discontinued the 27-inch iMac, which was the last iMac with an Intel processor. Since the iMac Pro was also discontinued last year, the 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip is currently the only all-in-one desktop computer sold by Apple. Authoritative sources such as Mark Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo claim that the iMac Pro may return in 2023.
iPod Touch
In May, Apple announced that it was discontinuing the iPod touch, and in June the device was removed from Apple’s website. iOS 16 is not compatible with any iPod touch, which means the end of iOS support for the Apple player.
First introduced in October 2001, the iPod was one of Apple’s most iconic products, but the device’s demise has become inevitable over time given the wide range of Apple products that can now play music, including the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod mini. The latest generation of iPod touch was introduced in May 2019.
Apple Watch Edition
In September, along with the release of the all-new titanium Apple Watch Ultra, Apple discontinued the Apple Watch Edition.
Apple Watch Edition models have been available since the launch of the original Apple Watch in 2015. Over the years, these models have featured higher quality case materials such as gold, ceramic and titanium. The Apple Watch Ultra is now the only model to offer a titanium case, while the Hermès models are still available as the most expensive option.
Apple TV HD
In October, following the release of the third-generation Apple TV 4K, Apple discontinued the legacy Apple TV HD, first introduced in 2015.
Prices for the new Apple TV 4K start at $129, while the Apple TV HD cost $149 before it was discontinued. Initially called the 4th generation Apple TV, then renamed to Apple TV HD, the set-top box had a maximum resolution of 1080p and was the first Apple TV with tvOS support, the App Store and a Siri-enabled remote control.
5W power adapter
Apple seems to have stopped production of the 5W compact iPhone charger around August, as they haven’t shown up in Apple’s online store since then.
Apple has included a 5W charger with the iPhone 3G through the iPhone 11, although the charger has received a few minor changes over the years. Unlike Apple’s newer USB-C chargers, the 5W charger has a USB-A port and is not capable of fast charging.
iPhone 11 Pro models came with a faster 18W USB-C charger, and later with the iPhone 12 and later, Apple stopped adding the charger altogether.
