The display brightness of the iPhone 14 Pro increases in the sun to 2000 nits. Everyone has had such cases when on the street it was impossible to see what is displayed on the iPhone, because the display became too dim against the background of the bright sun.
8 reasons not to buy an iPhone 14
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature Super Retina XDR displays, which Apple calls “the most advanced displays on any smartphone.” The new displays have a peak brightness of 2000 nits when used outdoors in sunlight, which is twice the peak brightness of previous models.
When viewing HDR photos, videos, and movies, the new displays can reach a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, higher than older iPhones. With 1,600 nits of brightness, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max now deliver the same level of brightness as the $4,999 high-quality Pro Display XDR when viewing HDR content, according to Apple.
This brightness is achieved through a more advanced OLED motherboard and a new display engine in the A16 Bionic chip, which provides features such as Dynamic Island, an always-on display and a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
There have also been minor changes to the displays of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max compared to their predecessors. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a resolution of 2796 by 1290 pixels compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max with a resolution of 2778 by 1284 pixels. The iPhone 14 Pro also received a slight resolution change, at 2556 by 1179 pixels, compared to 2532 by 1170 pixels on the iPhone 13 Pro.
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, along with the more budget-friendly iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, are available for pre-order now and will ship on Friday, September 16th. The iPhone 14 Plus will begin shipping to customers on Friday, October 7th.
