Apple has created a GymKit certification app with Fitness Plus

Apple has created a GymKit certification app with Fitness Plus. GymKit is a technology platform that allows users to take advantage of various compatible devices by connecting Apple Watch to various cardio machines used in the gym.

iPhone 13 vs iPhone 14: novelty is not always good

For example, if the user starts a treadmill session with Fitness + on machines that integrate support for Apple GymKit, the workout will ask to tap to connect the Apple Watch in order to synchronize the parameters.

The 9to5Mac website reports that support for the platform in question is slowly expanding into gym equipment and now Apple has prepared GymKit Certification Assistant, an app that should streamline approval procedures for gym equipment manufacturers.

The GymKit Certification Assistant app is available on the App Store, distributed with developer accounts and accessible from a direct link. In the description of the app, Apple explains that this is designed for MFi licensees, the licensing system of the House of Cupertino that allows you to certify peripherals compatible with Apple products. “Use the GymKit Certification Assistant to test pairing, connection and other key additional requirements of fitness equipment you have developed to include GymKit technology.”

The app, as mentioned, is designed for equipment manufacturers and allows them to test their operation with the GymKit platform. The app guides companies in testing procedures for NFC connectivity and data accuracy, ensuring that the information shown to users is correct.

The 9to5Mac site reports that Apple has most likely already used this app in the past to carry out tests with partners who have decided to take advantage of the GymKit technology. The addition of the app to the App Store further simplifies the approval process and is probably a sign that Apple intends to speed up the launch of products with support for GymKit technology. The app is also useful for diagnosing bugs with the GymKit integration, allowing developers to obtain details on Bluetooth and NFC connectivity, helping to identify the causes of any communication problems.
